The most important trick to enjoying your stay here is by packing the right clothes for cold weather. Many people underrate how cold the highlands of Honduras can get at night, only realizing later when temperatures fall in single digits on the Celsius scale (40s-50s°F). Carry thermals, a good jacket, thick socks, and a beanie. Yes, the hotel provides blankets but with your own warm clothes you will comfortably enjoy sitting on the balcony or any outdoor area without freezing.
Also, bring cash (Lempiras) and snacks. The hotel’s credit card machine does not work because of signal problems in the area, hence only cash payments can be accepted. There are no convenience stores close by so bring specific snacks, wine or medication that you may need. Attempt to get there before dark. The road is unlit at night with many curves plus it becomes misty; sitting on a bus for the first time ever travel late at night can be both nerve-racking as well as dangerous.
